Nîmes, 2003.
Long before the ice rinks and luxury hotel basements, Speed2Max Event laid out one of its very first tracks in the heart of the Roman arena of Nîmes. 1,400 m² of circuit set up in the two-thousand-year-old amphitheatre, 12 karts racing where gladiators once fought, beneath the stone terraces. Two thousand years of history, an arena built for spectacle and combat, and a new discipline that came to follow its curve.
It was here, in this extraordinary setting, that Speed2Max wrote one of the first chapters of its events story: proof, from the very start, that a track could be set up absolutely anywhere, even in a listed monument. Gladiator karting: the combat has changed form, the arena has stayed the same.
